New Boardwalk & Playground Opens at The Oval, Seletar Aerospace Park (*Map Included!)

In case you haven’t heard of the new F&B hangout at Seletar Aerospace Park called The Oval where a few restaurants have already started for business, check out the other posts in this Seletar series.
Migrant workers (to whom we owe so much of our development) have finished creating a short but picturesque boardwalk at the fringe of The Oval, right next to the airport runway.
The most convenient way to get there on the road is to turn left just after the Summerhouse, go past Youngs restaurant, turn right into Zone B parking, and park at the far end of the carpark.
Alternatively you can turn right after exiting Zone B carpark, drive to the roundabout and park at Zone C.
The boardwalk is peppered with benches in the rough shape of a paper aeroplane (in line the theme of aerospace) and you can admire the backsides of aircrafts on the other side of the fence.
If you’re lucky, you’ll be able to see an aircraft taking off or landing, but other than the occasional runway maintenance activity, it is a quiet place to relax at.
The Oval is full of dilapidated colonial houses which would make beautiful homes by the airport if they were spruced up.
If I had the money, I wouldn’t mind bringing up the kids in a place where they can run around in a garden.
Anyway, if your kids eventually get bored of airplane-watching, there’s also a new airplane-themed playground for younger tots and older kids, with its very own Ludo board.
From the boardwalk, just cross over Zone C carpark and keep right to get to the playground, or make a left to grab a drink at Wheeler’s Estate.
This section above is for older kids, with an airplane and air-control tower.
Wall-climbing into an airplane, anyone?
The section above is for younger kids, and you can even try to complete a game of Ludo (if your kids have the patience to do so).
There is even a helipad merry-go-round round.
If you’re tired, you can rest at the benches inside the airplane-shaped trellis.
Or just play on the sloped garden (but be careful as it’s flanked by roads).
For now, the Oval’s boardwalk and playground are quiet, so quickly visit before it becomes another overcrowded Dempsey.
