Naomi Kitchen at Serangoon: Good Location, Pretty Decor & Creative Confections

I have a weakness for country-themed cafés.
So on my way to NEX Mall at Serangoon, when I walked past a café that had a country-theme decor, I just had to go in to get a cup of tea.
Naomi Kitchen is located at the first floor of the multistorey carpark right next to NEX Mall, with NTUC’s My First Skool and Silver Circle Senior Day Care nearby.
The air-conditioned café had a homely feel to it, with a white country theme which reminded me of the cafés I’ve visited in Taiwan before.
The café can host private parties for up to 20 people, and with a playground just outside the café, it’s actually an ideal location for kids parties.
According to Naomi Kitchen’s website, if you spend a minimum $300 (a 2kg birthday cake costs $110 onward, and $10 per pax for guests of 20 pax), you’ll get 2 hours free rental (worth $200).
You can enjoy Swiss rolls, cakes, tarts, pastries and mains at Naomi Kitchen.
There’s a tea selection too a $4 a cup. If you add on tea to any set, it’s just an extra $2.50 a cup.
We chose to have 2 Swiss rolls and a cup of Japanese Green Sencha tea for $4.90 (which is $1.20*2 rolls + $2.50 tea).
You can also order soft drinks if you like, starting from $2 a can. Their Chinese New Year goodies seemed to have sold out (I didn’t ask though) as the shelves hadn’t been restocked.
We ordered mango peach Swiss roll (fluffy and not too sweet) and green tea with red bean Swiss roll (the mashed red bean seed coat embedded in the soft cream gave it a varied texture).
When we were at the café, other families with young kids came in to order the $2 ice cream in a cone. The café wasn’t crowded like those in NEX Mall, so we enjoyed a bit of quiet space in air-conditioned comfort.
The only issue I had is that there was a chip on the side of the built-in bench which could have been plastered over so kids don’t scrape their thighs sitting on it.
